Sorrel - Le GREAL - 2019 - Hermitage
Domaine Marc Sorrel Hermitage Le Gréal 2019
RVF Guide to the Best Wines of France 2022 (Sept. 2021): 98/100. Limestone, deep, tight, but also devilishly precise, here is a hermitage cut for the great guard. Sumptuous complexity and length. Apogee 2030
Technical sheet written by the domain:
Cuvée from one of two of the best places on the hill.
For 10% of the syrahs of the Greffieux (about thirty years old), and for 90% of the Méal (in the heart of the hill), composed of 90% of Syrah planted in 1927 and 1928, and 10% of marsanne and roussanne of about sixty years. Grapes grinded or not depending on the vintage, aged in barrels from 18 to 24 months, no bonding or filtration.
Tasting: ink dress, delicate bouquet of violet, blackcurrant and musk. Massive but harmonious tannins, prodigious length. It is a solid storage wine, capable of improving for fifteen to twenty years.
