Art from thrift stores is worth money!

Are you someone who regularly wanders through thrift stores and flea markets in search for beautiful, unique and valuable objects? In that case, continue with what you're doing because you might earn a lot of money! In doing so, Martien, who is an employee of thrift store Goed in Schijndel in the Netherlands, recently came across two exceptional paintings with a combined value of 5,200 euros!

But how did Martien know that he found something special? Martien did some painting in the past, and by recognising its depth and perspective, he suspected that this could not be just some painting made by Aunt Emily. The year numbers marked on these works of art also helped. After a quick search on the Internet, he concluded that these canvases were painted by the Spanish artist Riancho Y Mora.

The thrift store arranged for the paintings to be cleaned and put up for auction at Catawiki, this resulted in the greatest sale in the history of the thrift store. The money is now being invested in the renovation of a collection container for the waste facility in Schijndel, in which people can deposit their old stuff.
