Materials: Green Jasper.
Cutting: This tool was made on a pebble, from which some large flakes were cut on one face to create the cutting edge, the rest of the piece was left cortical, naturally soft and rounded, thus ensuring a strong and safe grip. The cutting edge shows many marks of manipulation.
Dating, hominid: This implement belongs to the early Acheulean culture (Lower palaeolithic period, circa 1,000,000 years ago), and was conceived by Homo Erectus.
Origin: Found in the South of Morocco.
Size: 12 cm x 10.5 cm.
Weight: 600 g
Condition: Intact, very well preserved. Beautiful Patina.
Acquired in 2021 from Mr. Z. private collector, collected since the 70's.
