Martin Jonas (1924-1996) was a leading ‘naiv art’ painter form Serbia. - Naiv Art Jonas is a self taught painter who started as a child. Jonas began his artistic career as a theater set decorator and writer for the pin-up newspaper “Bojovnik”. After World War II he joined the ‘Kovacica group of Naïve Art’ to which he contributed greatly. His wealth of talent and aesthetic imagination ranks him among the most amazing personalities in the world of current naive art. Fun fact: The wife of Martin Jonas actually had very big hands! This was witnessed by my father who bought the painting directly from Martin Jonas during one of his travels to former Yugoslavia. The oil painting is 42 by 65 centimeter and signed by the artist.
