The first Italian football Almanac was issued in 1913, was called "Annuario italiano del football" and was edited and published by Guido Baccani, historical coach of Lazio (from 1907 to 1924), journalist ("Gazzetta dello Sport") and briefly coach of the national team in 1924-1925. 1914-1915 and 1919-1920 editions followed. In 1932 his example was followed by Rinaldo Barlassina, a famous referee, who he edited a yearly '"Agendina del calcio" until 1941-1942. In 1938 the idea broadened. The “Enciclopedia illustrata del calcio italiano - Almanacco 1939" was published, a volume full of information about the origins of Italian football, on clubs and the national team. A yearly publication, it became "Almanacco illustrato del calcio" from 1941. It was produced by Panini from the 1971 edition.
