The sculpture stands on a wooden base with a metal plaque with the text "Forgeron de la Paix par G.B. Germain (sculpt) Salon de 1904 ", see photos. Little is known about the Paris sculptor Jean-Baptiste Germain (1840-1910). He studied with Dumont and Gumery. Best known for his sculptures in marble and bronze.
