Bondoc mésosidérite. Météorite de pierre-fer - 12.9 g
Mesosiderites are thought to originate at the core-mantle boundary of differentiated asteroids, where the metallic core meets the lighter rocks. They were then shattered to space through another meteorite impact until they fell on Earth.
Bondoc mesosiderite was first discovered in 1956 in the Bondoc Peninsula, Luzon Island, the Philippines.
This slice was bought to Mike Farmer in the Munich mineral show 18. It comes with his label. It is a big pyroxene nodule so iron is less representative than in other parts of the meteorite. Condition is as shown in the pictures.
Weight: 12.9 grams.
