A substantial and austere sewing machine made by Köhler. In wonderful original condition. Very heavy. This type is heavier than other models. This machine weigh no less than 18 kilos. Also striking is the enclosed wheel. These are usually uncovered. After the war, when the company Köhler could once again operate, it supplied sewing machines as reparation payments to the USSR. In 1948, Köhler and Dietrich merged to form the company VEB Naehmaschinenwerke (VEB Sewing-Machine Works) Altenburg as part of the Textima co-operative.
