Dal modello di Giovanni Varlese - Sculpture, Il Pescatoriello (1) - Bronze - Seconde moitié du XXe siècle
Bronze sculpture with dark patina on a marble base after a model by Giovanni Varlese. It depicts a “pescatorello” (young fisherman), from the second half of 1900s. “Pescatorello” bronze statue signed G. Varlese.
Giovanni Varlese (1888 – 1922 Naples). The artist belongs to a renowned school of Neapolitan sculptors that in the late 18th and early 19th century stood out for their great skill and creativity. For Varlese, too, the standard setter was Vincenzo Gemito (1852 - 1929). A man of humble origins, Varlese became an internationally renowned artist; his portrait of Verdi and the sculptures depicting a fisherman and a young fisherman are very famous and became a classic of Neapolitan sculpture. Preserved and in good condition.
