Eugène Callewaert - accordéon - Belgique - 1920

Beautiful antique Eugène Callewaert accordion in case. Accordion produces a nice sound, but when moving, some things inside are loose. Delivered in the original old wooden case (42x42x25) and 10kg200. Eugeen Callewaert rebuilt his father’s accordion factory after the First World War, and would exploit it up to 1944. His father, Felix Callewaert (Zwevezele, 1862), married Emma Boone and started the accordion factory in Zwevezele. Around 1890, he settled in Lichtervelde on the corner of the Statiestraat and the Beverenstraat. The railway traffic was of economic interest for his accordions. The Lichtervelds accordion, or “The Callewaert”, would acquire fame in the music world. Many know the municipality of Lichtervelde thanks to the Callewaert accordion, which is also called a “Lichterveldschen”. One can be seen in the museum of musical instruments to this date. During the First World War, the accordion factory was completely destroyed, the family lost a son on the battlefield and mother Emma Boone died as a result of a bombardment. The rest of the family fled to Kuringen in Limburg, where father Felix Callewaert died in 1918. The object will be shipped worldwide via PostNL International 3S service. The shipping costs include registration and an insurance against loss or damage with a maximum of €500.
