It was designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri, who together with her husband founded the company in 1949. The Componibili grew into a true design classic after its introduction in 1969, and still is one of the most popular items ever created by Kartell. This storage system helped the company grow into what it currently is: a pioneer in the use of plastic and commercial design. It shouldn't come as a surprise that the Componibili has been a star in the design firmament for years now: it is known for its flexibility, functionality, and its playful, somewhat futuristic look. The Componibili system comes to life thanks to its simple and firm vertical stacking of the separate components, which are easily assembled. These components thereby constitute handy mobile storage spaces. The flexible and practical modular components have been in production for nearly forty years now and enjoy worldwide renown due to their contribution to innovative interior design. They are part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre George Pompidou in Paris.
