Beautiful, imposing sculpture by the French artist Emile Bruchon Émile Bruchon (act. ca. 1880-1910).
The sculpture has a plaque in the front middle with the title of the sculpture "Paix et Progrès", par Bruchon. The artist paid a lot of attention to the detailed elaboration and expression of the whole. The sculpture is signed on the base by the maker, has a casting mark and has a nice patina.
Emile Bruchon was a student of the famous French sculptor Mathurin Moreau and made both sculptures and decorative objects, in bronze and zamak. A variant of Bruchon's Paix et Progrès is listed and depicted in Harold Berman's "Bronzes," page 913, No. 3489.
