Bert Notenboom (1942-2011) - Katten

Bert Notenboom (1942-2011) - Kittens. Oil on panel - Signed at the bottom left - 1942 - 2011. Paintings by Bert Notenboom are of high quality and often not for sale as enthusiasts simply don’t want to sell. The painting was bought directly from the artist around 1975 - 1980. Bert Notenboom was a Dutch master of this period. Bert Notenboom is the number three cat painter in the Netherlands after Cornelis Raaphorst and Henriëtte Ronner-Knip. Painting was an obsession for Bert, though he wasn’t born with a brush in his hands. His crib was in the ‘Oude Westen’ of Rotterdam, a typical working-class neighbourhood, where he, as he says himself, grew up between the pubs and the ladies of the night. In those days he already loved drawing and would sit for hours at the kitchen table. Today Bert Notenboom is one of the best painters in The Netherlands. He has a particular passion for cats, though also made paintings with chickens, chicks and still lives. The frame and panel are in excellent condition. The painting will be carefully packed and sent by registered shipping.
