7 Keris balinais / Kris Balebang de Bali (1) - Acier/fer de Damas, Bois, Pamoriron - Kris/keris - Bali, Indonésie
7 luk Keris (Kris) from Bali.
Special 7 luk (bend) Keris from Bali (Indonesia) in a beautiful sheath and with a rare grip. The Dapur (name) of this Keris is Balebang (De Kris, Tammens, vol1). A Keris with seven bends is said to be good for the owner's communication.
The Keris has a clear pamor (damask-like pattern). This is caused by the technique of forging various types of iron in layers by the Empu (traditional Keris blacksmith).
The name of the pamor is, in my opinion, Ngulit Semangka.
This pamor is known for its good magical properties, including protection of the carrier and facilitating interaction with people from all kinds of circles (source: pamor atlas, EAN van Veenendaal).
This special Balebang Keris is in a beautiful wooden Kojongan sheath (Warangka Sandang Walikat). This is a quite rare form in Bali, very nice wooden drawing and beautiful, gold coloured upholstery with floral motifs, which is only used for the best Kerisses.
The grip is wound with hair and has nice decorations (at the top, but also at the bottom of the grip).
The total is complimented with a beautiful mendak (ring between grip and the Keris).
The total length of the Keris in the sheath: 58 cm, the Keris itself (the blade) is 37 cm.
