Grand Marnier Cuvee Speciale du Cent Cinquantenaire Liqueur
Made with Orange and Cognac. A limited edition celebrating the 150th anniversary of the creation of the company by founder Jean-Baptiste Lapostolle.. Originally only shared amongst the family, this exceptional cuvee, first created in 1977, is an opulent and powerful blend of rare cognac reserves aged up to 50 years, (primarily from Grande Champagne) and the distilled essence of wild tropical oranges. The liqueur acquires its full intensity and opulence after a minimum aging of 3 years in oak vats.
Tasting note: Deep polished copper. Dense and layered aromatics include orange marmalade, hints of fig paste and dried apricot overlaying suggestions of new leather and cigar box as flashes of cognac add depth. Astonishes with its thick, cream textured and impeccably balanced delivery filling the mouth with citrus oils and a burst of fresh peel; finish highlights the cognac and oak in a superb cascade of vanilla, dried citrus, rancio and lively spices. Fades with orange cake as the sugars are restrained for a perfectly poised farewell. An essay in precision and balance when it comes to liqueurs. First class. 40% Alc./Vol.
