The chair Brno (model no. MR50) is a modernist cantilever chair designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in 1929-1930 for the bedroom of the Villa Tugendhat in Brno, in the Czech Republic. The design is based on similar chairs created by Mies van der Rohe also in collaboration with Lilly Reich, like the chair MR20 with seat in wicker from 1927; all of them based on previous projects by Mart Stam.
The Brno chair became a classic piece of modern furniture. It has very clean lines, it consists of a frame made of a single piece of steel folded in "C" shape from the centre of the backrest, rounded over the back edge of the chair (to create the armrests) and on the back below the seat to create the cantilever, with an upright seat and backrest padded in leather.
This specimen in flat steel is in excellent condition.
Very light but normal signs of wear.
Measurements:
Height: 78 cm.
