The swan, together with the egg, was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The chair was produced by Fritz Hansen in 1997. The chair is mounted on an aluminum frame with the manufacturer's label. The original upholstery appears in the colour indian red with fully tanned semianiline of the highest quality and has thus achieved a natural and beautiful patination over the past 25 years. The left back has two natural scars from the animal's lifetime. This is an expression of minimal surface treatment of the product. Semi-aniline leather differs from full-aniline leather in that it has not been treated with as much dye. Full-aniline leather has been treated with a greater amount of dye, so it is more uniform in color and has a deeper color. Full-aniline leather is also more susceptible to damage and stains as it does not have a protective finish. Semi-aniline leather is therefore a good choice for people who want a soft and comfortable leather surface, but who also want some protection against damage and stains.
