Up and down the cliffs of Cleveland, 1903;A week in wild Wales, spring 1904;Wells and Cheddar, Autumn 19004;Autumn gold in Wye District, 1905;Dusty Dorset and happy Hampshire, 1906;Sussex Downs, 1906;Tramping back from Liverpool, 1907 A superb and comprehensive set of travels, approx 350 pages in total including hand drawn maps, numerous photographs, cuttings and associated ephemera. Several journeys have dedicated title pages with attractive designs. There is a photograph of 'The Wanderer (presumably the author) taken in 1907 pasted on to a page at the beginning of the book. Bound in a well worn leather notebook with the initials H. E. B to upper cover, spine lacking but three cloth bands have been bound to hold the contents together, the book has a hand made brown paper dust jacket to protect it. Amongst his many journeys, Belcher served as a ships surgeon on the Gion Lines R. M. S Arizona between Liverpool and New York (60 pages) Log of Journey to America July 1892 - "Started from Nottingham at 2.30 a for Liverpool when I saw to Dr Crew for the last time, as he had come to a violent end by his own hand before my return... Breakfasted at the Adelphi & then went on to the Gion offices & went through the formalities there and at the Board of Trade offices and was duly appointed surgeon to the S. S Arizona, 5000 tons Captain Brooks - the Record greyhound of November 1879 when she did the outward voyage in 7 days 8hrs 49. Saturday July 23rd - "At 4pm the saloon passengers came on board and at 6 we dined... Spent the evening on deck passed the" Maxwell " which collided the other day killing 3 life boat men" Niagra Falls - Paying one dollar you go into the houses and strip in a private room, locking up all valuables in a tin box the key of which you tie around your neck;then you put on a coarse flannel coat and trousers & over the coat a tarpaulin, then a boy ties felt slippers on your feet... Passing right through the tunnel of water you reach the wooden pathway at the point where it diverged to the front of the fall.
