Francesco Guardi (1712-1793), Circle of - A pair of architectural views of Venice

XVII - Venetian School - Francesco Guardi (1712 - 1793) Circle of A pair of very rare 18th Venetian school oil on marble capriccio / architectural paintings Period 1700-1750 Medium: Oil on marble Overall size with the original Italian gilt frames are and the paintings both measuring 21 cm x 10 at sight. A beautifully composed and detailed pair of architecturally -themed oil on marble paintings for the early to middle 18th century. The figures are similar to the more conventionally painted figures seen in the work of the Venetian Master XVII - Venetian School - Francesco Guardi (1712 - 1793). Wonderfully tactile and detailed these two small paintings are very rare and it is not often that paintings of this medium and period are available on the market. In our opinion these paintings warrant research. The one painting has a a coloured sea background with sailing ships and the foreground a palatial building with a number of figures in period attire and displays great detail for a small painting. The other painting depicts a range of buildings with great perspective and figures again in period attire. Condition report. We have not removed the glass covering within the frames or the fixed wooden panel backings . From what we can establish both marble panels appear fully intact with cracks and the paintings appear to be in original condition both very good for their antiquity. The marble has its subtle patina and the oils appear to have not deteriorated . There are a few tiny spots on both paintings but it is very possible that these are actually on the back of the glass as there are microscopic shadows below the spots. The original gilt frames are beautiful and have age - related patina. These are both offered as gifts with the paintings. See below notes regarding paintings. The frames that are included in the pictures above have been added to the artwork by a third party/the seller, as such it’s not an integral part of the object. The frame is being provided to you at no additional costs so that when your artwork arrives at your house you can immediately display it on your wall. As such any damages to the frame itself, that do not affect the integrity of the artwork, cannot be accepted as a valid reason to open a claim or request a cancellation. We would also point out that whilst we insure all paintings before shipping that we have no control over shipping once we have sent the painting . The successful bidder will be responsible for paying any import duties and any associated VAT in the country of destination . Please refer to the auction terms regarding this before bidding. All of the art that we sell is insured for shipping ( subject to the above ). All shipping is professionally packed. . we have been getting most paintings shipped to most parts of the EU with 5 working days but we cannot guarantee this . We have on a couple of occasions experienced a few delays with customs in certain countries over the last few weeks. Please Note: Studio/Gallery photos of paintings on an easel on the published material are intended only to represent accurately the size of the painting within that room environment. Also refer to the shipping costs and note the auctioneers disclaimer regarding potential customs charges . We cannot calculate these as they are levied in the country of destination and the amount payable is determined by customs there and not by ourselves or the auctioneers. We have experienced some customs charging higher than expected import taxes; so we would advise bidders to attempt the establish the likely excise duties that your own National customs will charge you before bidding and committing to buy the painting. We must emphasise it is NOT the UK customs. #riccardohometour
