Statue - Bronze doré, Corail, Turquoise - Vishnu - Népal - Fin du XIXe siècle

This is an antique, large, Gilt Bronze, Nepalese Vishnu विष्णु. This is an interesting, beautiful, heavily cast, and intricately modelled example. It should be noted that this example is unusual, and rare, as gem set, Nepalese Gold gilt Vishnu statues are not often available. Also this one is unusual as it is clearly in more the style of Buddhist Dieties, such as Avalokitesvara. This indicates it was probably made by a craftsman who made both Hindu and Buddhist religious statuary. This Vishnu is depicted with four arms, and carries his four iconic attributes. The 'Panchajanya'(conch), 'Sudarshana Chakra' (discus), 'Kaumodaki' (mace), and 'Padma' (lotus). The deity is dressed in long robes, and precious body jewellery, including necklaces, arm bands, and earrings, all symbolising enlightenment ( set with genuine Turquoise, and Coral). He wears a Five pointed, leaf crown ( also set with Turquoise and Coral ) The back of the crown would have been painted in ritual red. The only remnants of this red colour are on the ears and lips. The hair is a ritual dark blue. The eyes are also hand painted. The statue is framed by flowing celestial bands, and the head by a flaming Manora. The figure stands serenely on a detachable, round, double lotus base. A copper consecration plate seals the base. Vaishnavism (the worship of Vishnu) was the main sect of Hinduism in Nepal until the early Malla Dynasty period (1201 to 1779). Although similar to pieces from 1500-1800s and with good modelling and age, I'm dating this statue to the late 19th to early 20th century. Please make your own estimation. A wonderful Collectors piece, perfect Buddhist Altar statue, gift, or powerful interior design statement All my statues are are kept under Buddhist and/or Taoist conditions. CONDITION: Good. With patina and wear ( including the settings and hand painted areas ), dirt, dust, blemishes, scratches, oxidization, dents, small casting faults and excesses, modelling and casting irregularities consistent with type and age of manufacture. I've replaced a number of missing gemstones. Please see the before and after photo. Please note the statue slightly leans. AGE: Late 19th to early 20th century. ORIGIN: Nepal. Belgian Collection. PROVENANCE: Bought at auction. 'Coronari Auctions' Steenweg 144/A, Nazareth, Belgium. From a Belgian Collection of Asian Antiques. DIMENSIONS: Height: 28(cm) / 11 (inch) Depth: 9(cm) / 3.5(inch) Width: 16(cm) / 6.5(inch) Weight: 2kg approximately Carefully packaged and shipped tracked and signed insured.
