Wonderfully ornate Danish silver figural letter opener. Beautiful handle that is chased in high-relief with an Art Nouveau design of a semi-nude woman holding a spear. The top of the handle is decorated with scrolls and foliage and there is dog resting at the feet of the woman. Highly ornate paper knife from one of the best Scandinavian silversmiths of that period. Maker: V. Christensen, Copenhagen Assay master: Simon Groth Date: 1875 24.27 g 18 cm 1.5 x 0.5 cm across the widest part of the handle Excellent antique condition. Some scuffing appropriate to age and use; some very light blunting to the tip.
