Roman Janiform marble head of the god Apollo
Provenance: acquired in late 60s early 70s in Turkey, Ephesus area.
Double herm of Apollo likely to have been the top of a small architectural column in ancient times. Depicted with smooth oval face with idealized features, including almond-shaped heavy-lidded eyes, gently-arching brows and rounded chin. Lack of noses on both faces. Mounted on a granite stand. Total hight With stand 28cm
Roman 2nd - 3rd Century AD
