Luristan Bronze Groupe de pointes de flèche (6)
A selection of six small Luristan cast bronze arrowheads, varying in shape and size but all featuring a triangular blade with a central raised mid-rib and sharp barbs, except one of them. The pieces are covered in a beautiful blue-green patina and some earthly encrustations. There is some damage to the edges of the blades, and three of the barbs are missing, but the arrowheads are mostly well-preserved and intact.
Luristan bronzes come from the province of Lorestan, located in modern day Iran. Luristan weapons, such as this nice example, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased.
Excavated items from this region often include weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Ornamental objects are also frequently found, such as pins and bracelets. Archaeological evidence suggests that the Luristan bronze objects often served ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
