Pair of Armor Bronze-Clad bookends, signed by the artist Salvatore Morani. Weight : 3.578 gr Published by the National Metalizing Co., Armor Bronze, New York City, catalog reference no. 316. Born in Calabria, Italy, Salvatory Morani studied sculpture for eight years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and for six years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. He came to the United States in 1905 and was active in Active in Philadelphia, Pa. In this country, his work has been exhibited in the National Academy in Washington, and the National Academy of Design in Manhattan. Entitled "The Dreamer", this is an extremely rare and highly sought after bronze or bronze clad sculpture by this renowned Italian artist and sculptor. The sculptures feature a reclining nude with her hands behind her head in a dreamy state of slumber. This is one of the most sought after sets by Morani sculpted for Armor Bronze. Morani was one of several renowned artist and sculptors commissioned by The Armor Bronze Company. In good condition, no scratches, cracks or breaks, some tiny traces of use, note a slight peeling under one of the two pieces. Original felt with label on the bottom..
