I had high hopes for this beautiful table linen which had 12 napkins with it. It was part of a trousseaux which I had not inspected when I went to see the lady. However when I held each napkin against the light 8 had to be abandoned due to very intensive wear and tear.. So there are now just 3 napkins with the table linen and merits a new life again. The design is so very typical early 20th Century when not much else was available other than the very expensive damask country scenes which was beyond the average French family's budget. It is called "Damier" and resembles a chess board. The initials C.V. are ,as far as I can make out hand embroidered and have a beautiful depth to them. The table linen even has two sets of initials which is somewhat unusual for its length. The napkins measure 82cm x 70cm.
