Austrian empire / biedermeier repeater mantel (table) clock of silvered bronze by Ditmair. Austria, most probably Vienna or Budapest, early 19th century, around 1825-1845. Uncommon model, silvered clocks are particularly rare! Rectangular case made of silvered bronze, movement in central position, bell-shaped top with fruit-shaped finial, wide base with smaller finials in corners, supported on four feet, rococo-style appliqués on all sides. Austrian two train movement with silk suspension, repetition on demand, striking full- and half-hours. Machine turned and silvered dial with black Roman ciphers for hours, surrounded by a decorative frame with protecting glass, black-oxidized hands. The gong base is signed Ditmair. Dimensions: height - 36,2 cm, width - 21,3 cm; depth - 12,6 cm. Weight - 3 kg. Conditions report: case in very good condition for the age, silver layer worn in places, particularly on top finial. Needs basic cleaning, particularly the dial. Check pictures for details. Movement works (hours and minutes), but has problem with striking, when starts, never stops.
