Helios-44M
In terms of popularity, this version is not inferior to the Helios-44-2, and was used as a standard lens on all Zenit cameras with a push or jump aperture drive. The order of the chief engineer of KMZ on preparations for serial production of the lens was signed in February 1972[16]. The first batches were intended for the Zenit-EM camera[19]. The letter “M” in the name stands for a jumping (“blinking” or “blinking”) aperture[1]. In early versions of the lens, the aperture consists of 8 blades, and in subsequent modifications 44M-4 - 44M-7 their number was reduced to 6. After the appearance of the following models of photographic equipment with a drive for such an aperture, for example, Zenit-TTL and Zenit-1
