Étui à cigarettes en argent - Argent - Inde - Raj britannique (1858–1947)
Splendid Anglo-Indian Kutch silver large cigarette case in the manner of Oomersi Mawji. Rectangular body with rounded corners is profusely embossed with scrolls in typical Bhuj style that is distinguished by its closely worked, foliate and floral repoussé motifs.
The case is further decorated with figural animal inserts - an elephant and a mythical bird to cover and a stylised lion with a smaller elephant to reverse.
Absolutely stunning example of Indian silverwork craftsmanship of this period.
