An Indian very dark patinated bronze tribal sculpture of a Hindu deity, presumably Vishnu, British Raj (1858-1947), ca 1900, ca 16.5 cm. high, 10.5 cm. wide and 6.5 cm. deep.
'The Preserver' seated in 'pralambapadasana' on a rectangular base, his face with bulging eyes, pronounced nose and pouting lips, his hair in plaits, his head with pointed crown with high finials, wearing a robe with pointed strips and a crescent moon-shaped chest ornament, his arms and wrists bejewelled, holding an arrow ('Shula') in his right hand, a snake ('Naga') crawling on his lap, the base with missing corner (image #13).
