"Siglo de Oro is the most exclusive rum of the famous Dominican distillery Ron Brugal, designed to celebrate the one hundred anniversary of the distillery, Siglo de Oro is distilled twice from Dominican molasses and is aged, in a first stage, eight years in ex-bourbon casks of medium roasting to then rest eight more in new barrels, the final rum ages from 16 to 21 years.
Brugal is one of the oldest and largest distilleries in the Dominican Republic, founded in 1888 by Andrés Brugal Montaner, a young entrepreneur born in Sitges, who travels with the aim of settling in Puerto Plata to perfect the distillation of rum. Five generations later, the company continues in the Brugal family, direct descendants of Andrés are the Roneros Masters who run the company today.
After introducing his first rum in 1888, which would mark the beginning of a long family tradition, Andrés would continue to expand the company and its offer, in 1920 he created the first aged rum aged in the Dominican Republic.
In 1952 the aged Brugal rum was created and in 1976 the first premium rum of the Dominican Republic, Extra Viejo. Since then the company has continued to grow and expand throughout the world until becoming in 2010 the number one rum in Spain.
Crianza: Siglo de Oro is distilled twice from molasses from Dominican sugar cane. The rum ages in two stages, the first lasts eight years and is carried out in medium-roasted American white oak barrels that have previously aged bourbon. The second stage of aging is also carried out in the same type of barrel and lasts approximately eight more years. The rums that make up the final rum are between the ages of sixteen and twenty-one."
