An outstanding, tall six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) with a striking painting on shiny gold leaf, illustrating a scene of five cranes 鶴 (tsuru) soaring over a rocky shoreline adjacent to churning open waters.
In Japan, the crane, "tsuru" is one of the mystical or holy creatures and symbolizes good fortune and longevity because of its fabled lifespan of a thousand years.
Dated ‘Early morning in the year of the Earth Rooster’ 己酉未明, Anno 1909. Signed 'Yûrintoku' 有斴悳 and sealed twice by the artist in the lower right corner. The first one reading 'Sealed by Minamoto Masatoku' 源正徳印.
Rendered in watercolour and ink on gold leaf. The screen is bordered by two brocade silk trims – a slender écru one and a broad black-golden one, and is encased in a black lacquered wooden frame with protective hardware with engraved scrolling foliage design and domed knobs engraved with blossoms.

The screen is in a good original condition with some discoloration at the back side conform age. Between the two right panels a water discolouration. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
The folding screen is ideal for mounting flat on a wall and presenting as a single work of art.
