Baudour Fuisseaux porcelain On the territory of the municipality of Bodour, near the Belgian Mons, several ceramic factories were established during the 19th and 20th centuries. In August 1842, François-Joseph Declercq set up production in an old pottery building. Francois-Joseph Declerc is believed to have previously worked for famous porcelain factories in Meissen and Sèvres. Three years later, Declercq joined forces with lawyer Nicolas De Fuisseaux. In 1848 Nicolas De Fuisseaux took over the management of this rapidly growing company. He ran the Manufacture de Porcelaine de Baudour until his death in 1857. His widow, Eleonore Messine, took over for 25 years. After her death (1881) the company was managed by the youngest son Fernand. In 1898 the name was changed and took the form: "Société Anonyme des Anciennes Mills of Fuisseaux". Fernand de Fuso died in 1912. He was succeeded by his son-in-law Charles Grayson. After the First World War the company was bought by the Société Anonyme des Pavillons and in 1934 the Belgian Ceramic Society "Cérabel" took over the management of the Baudour factory. In 1977, Cerabel, which was on the verge of bankruptcy, ceased production of porcelain tableware.
