Maroeska Metz - Service à thé (17) - For children - Curl - Porcelaine

This is a children's tea service, sold exclusively by the Bijenkorf in The Netherlands, a project to raise awareness and money for Duchenne disease projects. Originally the complete set had 18 items but 1 cup has gone missing. Hardly used and no traces of wear. To have an idea of the actual sizes; the teapot measures 10 x 14 cm, while the cup is 5x 5 cm and the saucer 10 cm diameter. The items will be packed safely and secure for shipping. Maroeska Metz (born in 1959 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch designer. She studied sculpture at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. After working as a sculptor for five years, she designed a wrought iron candlestick for her own use. Her candlesticks and lighting then attracted international attention. In addition to lamps, she designed furniture, tableware, glassware and jewellery. Typical of her work is the so-called Maroeska curl. Since 1989, Metz has had its own label under the name Maroeska Metz. She mainly designs and produces for this label, but also made designs for Gelderland/Arx, Designers Guild, Arzberg and Essenza, among others. Articles about her work have appeared in Vogue, Elle Decoration and World of Interiors, among others. In 2015, a photo book by René and Barbara Stoeltie about her was published by a French publisher. Metz's work can be found in private collections and museums in the Netherlands and abroad.
