Magnificent rare Art Deco figurine group titled “In Erwartung” / “In Expectation”, designed in 1917 by the famous artist Adolf Oppel for Rosenthal Porcelain Manufaktur - Selb Bavaria Art Department, in excellent condition. The porcelain figurine group is depicting a lady dressed in a marvelous crinoline dress, elegant raised hair, fan in hand, seated in a garden setting and contemplating a Cupid statue on plinth. It is a marvelous detailed hand painted figurine in pure white porcelain, heavy gilded on Cupid stand and bench. Adolf Oppel (1840 - 1923) was a famous German sculptor and painter who’s figurines style is a classical one of school of Adolf Hildebrand (1847-1921). In earlier period, Oppel specialised in combination of his Art Nouveau figurines with vases, centrepieces and bowls. In later period, working for Rosenthal in Selb, Oppel created sculptured figurines. It is in excellent condition, impressed numbered #K.476, Rosenthal Selb Bavaria green mark of the period, slightly missing gild, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
