Tazizilet 002 - météorite chondrite OC4-brèche fondue - tranche super fine ! - Hauteur : 86 mm - Largeur : 75 mm - 29.99 g

Complete slice of Tazizilet 002 : unique chondritic melt material OC4 showing nice metal inclusions and encapsulated chondrules Size : 86*75*1.5-2 mm Wight : 29.99 gr Check metbull link for detail and history : https://www.lpi.usra.edu/meteor/metbull.php?code=80862 Writeup from MB 112: Tazizilet 002 17.47662662, 9.545471183 Agadez, Niger Find: 2022 Oct Classification: Ordinary chondrite (type 4, melt breccia) History: Two individual masses of 1173 and 1089 g were found in October 2022 by gold prospectors using a metal detector in the vicinity of Mount Amzeguer, Niger. In November 2022, both specimens were acquired by Sylvain Leroux in Agadez, Niger, directly from the finder Ahmat, and kindly conveyed by Hassane Ousmane. Material for classification was send to A. Greshake (MNB) and H. Goethals and T. Leduc (RBINS). Physical characteristics: Two dark brownish rocks lacking fusion crust. Petrography: (A. Greshake, MNB; H. Goethals and T. Leduc, RBINS) Metal-rich chondritic breccia composed of cm sized mostly angular chondritic clasts separated from each other by partially melted and finely recrystallized portions containing abundant thin metal veins. Chondritic regions contain well-defined, mostly flattened and separated chondrules (apparent diameter about 600 µm) of a great variety of types including PO, PP, POP, GOP, RP, and C. Predominant chondrule minerals are forsteritic olivine, magnesian orthopyroxene typically overgrown by Ca-rich pyroxene rims plus sodic plagioclase. Interchondrule matrix contains abundant Cl-apatite, chromite, FeNi metal, and troilite. No secondary plagioclase detected. FeNi metal is significantly more abundant in melt rock regions compared to chondritic clasts. Geochemistry: olivine: Fa8.4±0.1 (Fa8.3-8.7, FeO/MnO=16-19, n=10), orthopyroxene: Fs8.8±0.3Wo0.6±0.1 (Fs8.4-9.0Wo0.8-1.1, FeO/MnO=10-13, n=10); augite: Fs4.6±0.3Wo38.6±1.4 (Fs3.9-5.0Wo36.4-41.5, FeO/MnO=5-9, n=10) Classification: OC4-melt breccia. Likely related to Northwest Africa 15468 and pairs. Specimens: 69 g including one polished thin section at MNB; two polished discs at RBINS; remainder held by Mr. Sylvain Leroux Cut and polished by La Pierrerie de l'Aïr Shipped by La Pierrerie de l'Aïr, from Belgium.
