Magnificent Art Deco porcelain sculpture of a female “Balinese Dancer” modelled by the famous artist Carl Werner (1895 - 1980) for Lorenz Hutschenreuther Kunstabteilung Bavaria around 1930, in excellent condition. Depicted is a Balinese female dancer, which is semi-nude, (topless) in traditional costume, with headress, bracelets and anklets. Her hands are beautifully posed, in the style of Hindu epics of dance. This figurine is rare and hard to find, especially in this excellent to pristine condition. Carl Werner (1895-1980) studied in Weimar and joined Hutschenreuther in 1922 as a sculptor and technical director of the new art department. He is acknowledged as one of the leading German figurative sculptors for his studies of movement and the human body. Thanks to Werner and Tutter, Hutschenreuther produced some of the most desirable Art Deco figurines made in Germany.
