On top of being the type-locality for this iconic species (historically named 'chessylite'), Chessy is a wonderful deposit for azurite: many different facies occur there and the wide variety of shape achieved by azurite specimens is an endless delight for collectors.
Here is a superb and very representative floater specimen featuring coalescent flower-shaped rosettes of royal blue azurite, showing here and there incipient pseudomorphic replacement to green malachite and white quartz grains inclusions.
A great French and international classic!
