Hahn-Goerz 35 mm Model III (ca. 1923) Projecteur de film

German 35 mm Film Projector "Hahn-Goerz Horizontal", circa 1923. This horizontal projector by "Hahn A.G., Kassel" is designed for 300 m spools. It features a "Hahn-Goerz" lens with a prism on top, along with electric drive. Illumination is provided by a built-in low-voltage lamp, and the motor is regulated by a resistor. The projector bears a cast "Hahn Goerz" logo (nickel-plated), while a brass plate on the wooden base displays the company information "Hahn Cassel" and motor data. Horizontal image stages facilitate the challenging process of loading and projecting films. Dimensions: 64 cm wide (folded) and 67.6 cm high. Weight: 27.5 kg. The company Hahn-Goerz from Kassel was founded in 1910, as a result of the merger of Hahn (1871) and C.P. Goerz (1886). After the First World War, the company began producing film projectors, starting with the Hahn I followed by the Hahn II. Around 1923, they also introduced this home projector (heimkino) in three versions: manual (model I), motor-driven (model II), and motor-driven with enclosed film spools (model III). It is noteworthy that during the First World War, the Goerz company produced periscopes for submarines and applied this principle to the projector, which promptly earned it the nickname "U-Boot" (submarine). In 1927, the company became part of Zeiss Ikon AG (along with ICA and Ernemann). This specific model is the model III with motor drive beneath the baseplate, in original condition. The baseplate has one button for the lamp and one button to control the motor speed, along with the original crank. The projector originates from the family (of a former film-director), but the original source is unknown. Only one of the small clips for the covers (half-round) is missing and the second transport-cord – the rest appears to be all original. Please note: the electrical functions have not been tested. The device has been seen operational in the past. You will seldom come across such a projector. This specimen cannot be found online, and there is very little information available about this model. ps: After sale, it is possible (in consultation with the seller) to collect the projector. The seller is also willing (in consultation with the buyer in connection with petrol costs) to deliver the projector (radius approximately 200 km from the center of the Netherlands).
