Edgard Heirman, born in Waasmunster in 1919 and passed away in 2004, was a talented Belgian painter and clockmaker. He was not only skilled in creating and repairing clocks, but also had a natural talent for painting. His first art exhibition took place in 1937, and he was later invited to showcase his work alongside notable artists such as Constant Permeke, Servaes, and De Saedeleer.
In 1986, Edgard received several prestigious titles and recognitions. He was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of East Flanders by then-governor De Kinder. King Boudewijn bestowed upon him the title of Knight in the Order of the Crown. He also received the Reinaert Award in Sint-Niklaas. In 1989, on his 70th birthday, Edgard was granted the title of Honorary Citizen of Waasmunster. His contributions to the art world are also noted in Belgian art books.
