Part of the"Frutteria" series with many different fruits. Design in 1989 by Gunnel Sahlin for Kosta Boda, Sweden. Model 98915, labeled and hand signed. Excellent condition. Gunnel Sahlin, born in 1954 in Umeå, Västerbotten, is a Swedish glass artist and art professor. Sahlin studied sewing and weaving in Umeå before, in the years 1979–1983, she trained as a textile artist at Konstfack in Stockholm. In the years 1984–1986, she worked for Katja of Sweden, and then joined the glassworks group Kosta Boda. From 1990 she worked as a glass designer at the Åfors glass factory, where she composed tableware inspired by plants, fruits and music, such as Frutteria (1989). From 2006, Sahlin worked as a freelancer, including for Ikea.[1] In parallel with the design, Sahlin was a professor at Konstfack in the years 1999–2004 with a focus on glass. Sahlin has received several awards, including Excellent Swedish Form, and is represented at the National Museum[2] in Stockholm. Item will be double-packed and shipped with insurance.
