A pair of coral red and gilt bowls with blue enamel decoration. China, early 20th century, late Guangxu (1875-1908, 光緒) to early Republic (1912-1949, 中華民國) period. Very rare! Of inverted bell form with a gilt rim and three horizontal lines of gilt shou longevity symbols painted on the coral red ground of the exterior walls between blue enameled borders of lotus petal above the base and ruyi cloud heads under the top-rim. The colorless glaze coating the interior and the base bearing the six-character Guangxu mark in iron red standard script. Dimensions: diameter – 11,6 / 11,3 cm; height – 5,1 / 5,0 cm. Weight – 100 / 87 g. UV- and daylight pictures included. References: similar bowl (single) was sold in major auction house for $2000 (auction in March 2016, last picture).
