This exquisite Kutani ware decorative plate, designed by Kitamura Takashi, features the motif of "Kitamaesen," the traditional North Front ships. The artwork beautifully incorporates these historic ships sailing over a stylized ocean, where waves are depicted in striking cobalt blue underglaze, complemented by gold accents that catch the light and draw the eye. The outer rim of the plate shows a sophisticated pattern resembling a compass, suggesting a theme of navigation and exploration.
