Trajan, AD 98-117. AE Dupondius. (27,1 mm. 10,8 g.). AD 114-116, Rome. IMP CAES NER TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER DAC PM TRP COS VI P P, radiate and draped bust right. Rev. SENATVS POPVLVSQVE ROMANVS / S - C Trajan's Column: column, surmounted by statue of Trajan standing front, holding globe and spear, set on decorated podium and flanked by eagles. RIC 679; Woytek 538; Cohen 360; Paris 854. an exceptional example with a delightful 'emerald' like green natural patina. The insignificant scratch on the reverse (the scratch is only over the left field and is actually a good marker of the natural look of the coin without any manipulations which is extremely rare nowadays for a bronze coin). Exceptional classical idealistic portrait of Trajan wearing a radiate crown. Trajan's Column was built with to display the episodes on a continuous frieze of the war's events against the Dacians. The column is still existing and is one of the most significant monumentals of Forum Traiani and Rome. Extremely Rare in this grade. From an inventory of a prominent Viennese coin collector and dealer.
