Japan Order of the Golden Kite 6th Class World War II in Sterling Silver(goldplated) with silk ribbon and lacuered box with gold lettering.(金鵄勲章Kinshi Kunshu)
The Order of the Golden Kite (金鵄勲章Kinshi Kunshu), an order of the Empire of Japan, founded on 12 February 1890 by Emperor Meiji "in commemoration of Jimmu Tennō, the Romulus of Japan". Officially abolished in 1947 by the Supreme Commander of the Allied Powers (SCAP) during the occupation of Japan, after WWII.
The Golden Kite was awarded only to military personnel and only those with Japanese blood can earn this award. It was the highest decoration for bravery awarded by the Japanese government and the recipients of this award were highly regarded.
The order consisted of 7 classes. Soldiers in service were eligible for the 7th/5th classes (sterling silver), non-commissioned officers 6th/4th classes, non-commissioned officers 5th/3rd classes, field officers 4th/2nd classes, general officers 3rd/1st classes
