Ezquerra, Carlos - 1 Original page - Strontium Dog - Journey Into Hell (part 3) - Title page - 1979

Very dramatic Title page for part 3 of 'Journey into Hell' , written by T.B. Grover and drawn by Carlos Ezquerra. This was published in Prog (issue) #106 of the Science Fiction comic 2000ad on 31st March 1979, a mere 2 years after the 2000ad comic was launched on 26th Feb 1977. The comic, which is still being published over 40 years later, is still a hit. This goes to show exactly how early this page is! In this very early page from the 2000ad series, Johnny Alpha is chasing Fly's Eyes Wagner, a Strontium Dog (Bounty Hunter) gone rogue. Johnny Alpha's sidekick, a 'norm' called Wulf also appears in the second panel. This is drawn onto thick art board in a variety of pens and inks, and still has the original title pasted on, which Ezquerra has embellished with his stereotypical jagged pen lines. Due to the age of the piece and certain inks used, some lines have faded more than others, mainly the pen used for the thicker areas of inking. The reverse of the board has publisher's notes in pen and the board is dated by hand. Please note that any import duties or taxes are the responsibility of the winning bidder.
