Leírás az eladótól
Antique Japanese Masterpiece: Hand-Carved Wooden "Kanban" featuring "Gyōhin" (行賓).
This is an exceptional example of Japanese woodworking and calligraphy art from the late 19th to early 20th century. The centerpiece of this board is the bold, deep-relief carving (Ukashi-bori) of the characters "Gyōhin" (行賓), which can be interpreted as "The practice of virtue and hospitality."
Key Features:
Calligraphy by Sōketsu (霜傑): The elegant, flowing script was brushed by the artist Sōketsu, as indicated by the central signature and the two authentic hand-carved seals (Sōketsu and Chū-kō).
Masterful Carving by Shigetō (重登): The physical carving was executed by the craftsman Shigetō, who specialized in translating brushstrokes into three-dimensional wood art.
Historical Dating: Marked "Shinbi Akibi" (辛未秋日), dating the piece to either 1871 (early Meiji) or 1931 (early Showa).
Unique Surface Texture: The background is entirely hand-carved with a "scalloped" or "beaten" texture (Tsuchime-style), providing a stunning tactile contrast to the raised calligraphy.
Material & Patina: High-quality solid wood with natural aging and hints of verdigris (green patina) on the raised characters, proving its long history and authenticity.
