Bettina Rheims was successively a model, journalist and gallery owner before devoting herself to photography. In 1978, a first series of naked strippers made her known. Subsequently, she also produced portraits of personalities and actresses for numerous magazines, in France, Europe and New York, and shot advertising films. She was the winner of the Grand Prix de la Photographie de la Ville de Paris in 1994.
