Son of the sculptor Adolfo Cipriani and Emilia Pancani, Ugo Cipriani is the 5th child out of 9 children. He resides in the neighbourhood of the Oltrarno, in Borgo San Frediano. After his scholarship at the Academy of fine arts of Florence, Ugo Cipriani worked marble, terracotta, bronze, alabaster in the spirit of the Art Deco movement of 1920. One of his best-known works, a bronze monument (1919) of the Italian irredentist and nationalist Guglielmo Oberdan, is located on Plaza Guglielmo Oberdan in Florence. In 1935, he emigrated to France to escape Mussolini’s fascist regime. He lived in Paris as a political refugee and continued to create until his death in 1960. A very prolific sculptor in France, some clues revealed he used pseudonyms such as Menneville and Uriano.
