St. Francis is the patron of animals, merchants, ecology, dying alone; of families, peace, needle workers and against fire.
This 1800s reliquary made of gilt brass shows a beautiful baroque relief artwork, with 4 winged cherubs on the front and a detailed face of Our Lord Jesus Christ at the back. Inside, the precious relic rest on red silk.
On the other side, the Franciscan order´s wax seal is holding the threads together, hence sealing the artefact and ensuring its authenticity
Part of the private collection of a late nun from the convent of The Visitation at Paray-le-Monial, passed on to family heir.
Excellent condition, small wear and tear consistent with its age.
