Excelsior was founded in New York in 1924 by Egisto and Roberto Pancotti, grandchildren of the first organ maker from Macerata, long-time residents of Castelfidardo. On their initiative, the Excelsior Manifacturing Company and Pancordion were born and in the years between the two World Wars they joined the Giulietti, successfully entering the large market of the major American cities on the Atlantic coast. The greatest success of Excelsior accordions is achieved in the post-war period, when they become a ‘must-have’ of any large orchestra. In 1948, the Castelfidardo factory was built in Italy. They started mass production and also exported a range of guitars with their own brand to every part of the world, especially to America. The guitar is in good condition, I loosened the strings to prevent the bridge from coming off (see photos). It has no other defects or broken parts, but still it needs to be overhauled by a luthier.
